Tree Services
Below is a brief description of each of our tree services. We appreciate that our customers won’t always know what type of specific work needs carried out, which is where the knowledge and experience of our arborists can help you. We can recommend the best option from what is listed below.
Straight and Sectional Tree Felling
This is the removal of a tree by either cutting it down from the bottom (straight) or climbing using rope and harness and removing a section at a time, starting from the top (sectional). Which method is used depends on the individual tree and its surroundings. Sectional felling is used to reduce the likelihood of damaging surrounding structures. It is usually more costly as it is more time consuming.
Structural Pruning
This is appropriate for a tree who’s various stems are heavily competing with the leader. By pruning these stems back, the tree is encouraged to grow in a more healthy way, which saves it from possible premature removal and can reduce further costs to the owner.
Crown Raising, Reduction, or Thinning
A crown raise, or lift, involves removing the lower branches of the tree to allow either better light transmissions to areas close to the tree or to allow easier access under the crown. A crown reduction involves simply reducing the height of the crown while maintaining the main framework of the crown. This is usually done to remove stress from the tree, to allow better lighting, or to help the tree fit better with its surroundings. Crown thinning is the removal of smaller and thinner branches on the outer crown and does not really affect the overall size and shape of the tree. Thinning helps more light pass through the tree.
